Mat-MD5

Mat-MD5 is a free software that allow you to check the MD5 value for each file processed and compare it with other MD5 strings.
It will process one or more file and it will add the result value to a list. You can add your MD5 value to compare by typing it or by copying it from an external file, so you can easly compare your values.
It is very useful ie. when you download a big file – such as an *.ISO – and you want to check if it is the correct one. You can save your results to an external file; if takes too much time to check for a file you can stop the process when you want.
This software is freeware and it works on Win9x/2000/NT/XP/2003 systems and on Linux with Wine emulation.

  1. On http://www.matsoftware.it.

At about 11:15MST (Nov 6, 2009) I found a Virus on your site:

    ‘HTML/Crypted.Gen [virus]’

It looks like someone might be doing a man-in-the middle attack. I connected from http://docs.pcbsd.org/guide by clicking the link “2.4 Data Integrity Check” http://www.matsoftware.it/software/utility/matmd5.php. This link redirected me to a pop up ad that claimed I had a virus and immediately tried to install crypted.gen. My virus scanner immediately found the virus and deleted it.

Virus or unwanted program ‘HTML/Crypted.Gen [virus]’
detected in file ‘C:\Users\…\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\SEWBZKEM\scan[1].htm.
    Action performed: Delete file

Just thought you would want to know.

  2. I think it’s a “false positive” or something similar. I’ve never had any problem before, however I thank you for your report 🙂

    Hi,

Great program, but it would be really comfortable if the hash code’s casing (i.e., hex ‘abcdef’ vs ‘ABCDEF’) would not matter (since the numbers are really equal).

    Cheers,

    Christian
